I am helping with the hairstyles for a local early-2000s stage show. With limited costume changes, a distinctive hairstyle would help establish the mood. I have been collecting references for avril lavigne hairstyles but I want a manageable stage interpretation rather than an exact celebrity copy. The performer has long hair and does not want any permanent changes. A low side part and a couple of tiny braids seem achievable. My concern is that subtle styling may disappear under the stage lighting. There will be a short rehearsal, so we can test the shape in advance. I would prefer ordinary pins and elastics over complicated extensions. The singer moves around quite a lot during the performance, so we also need the style to hold together without constant adjustments between songs. Which styling details communicate that era most clearly in a small live performance? |
